Hormel Foods has issued a recall for thousands of pounds of frozen chicken products after potential contamination was discovered during quality inspections. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that the affected products were sold nationwide and may contain pieces of foreign material.

According to FSIS, the recall involves ready-to-eat frozen chicken items produced earlier this year under the Hormel brand and distributed to major grocery chains across the United States. The problem was identified after consumers reported finding unexpected material inside the food. So far, no injuries or illnesses have been linked to the recalled items.
The products were shipped in multiple package sizes and may include popular frozen chicken entrees and snacks. Each recalled package contains specific production codes and best-by dates listed in the official recall notice. Customers are urged to check their freezers and discard any affected items immediately.
Eating food contaminated with foreign material can pose a choking risk or cause internal injury. FSIS warns that even small fragments can lead to serious health problems if consumed. Consumers should not attempt to cook or taste the recalled products.
Hormel Foods stated that it is working closely with federal authorities to investigate how the contamination occurred and to improve manufacturing safeguards. Retailers have also been instructed to remove all affected items from their shelves.
Consumers who purchased the recalled chicken can return it to the store for a full refund or contact Hormel's customer service line for assistance. The FSIS recall page includes detailed information such as product lot numbers, packaging photos, and affected distribution areas.
Food safety experts remind consumers to regularly check recall notices and inspect frozen foods before preparation. Any product showing damage to the packaging or unusual texture should be treated with caution.
Anyone who may have consumed the recalled chicken and feels unwell should contact a healthcare provider right away.
