13 Ice Cream Recipes Worth Every Scoop This National Ice Cream Month

Every summer, I find myself making room in the freezer for one more container of ice cream. Bags of frozen fruit get shuffled around, leftovers get pushed to the side, and somehow I convince myself there's space for another batch. Not every recipe earns that spot. Some are exciting at first and then forgotten a few days later. Others are the ones everyone keeps coming back to until the container is empty.

National Ice Cream Month is a good excuse to make the kinds of ice cream you'll actually want to keep around. These 13 Ice Cream Recipes are the ones that feel worth the ingredients, the freezer space, and the wait while they chill. They're the recipes you'll be thinking about long after the first scoop.

The chewy boba is what makes this ice cream so fun to eat. Strong coffee flavor and soft boba pearls show up in every bite. It is a little different from anything else in the freezer.

The soft green color is the first thing people notice. Roasted pistachios add a little crunch to the smooth ice cream. It is hard to stop at one scoop.

Some summers seem determined to leave berry stains on everything. Here, blackberries leave dark purple streaks through sweet peach ice cream, and no two scoops look quite the same. I usually end up reaching for this one while peaches are still piled on the counter.

Some desserts seem made for slow evenings around the table. This ice cream combines Irish cream with chocolate chips for a smooth, crunchy combination. The bowl empties faster than expected.

Banana pudding brings back memories for a lot of people. This ice cream has banana flavor, vanilla wafers, and a creamy base all in one scoop. It feels familiar from the very first bite.

This dairy-free treat uses a rich sesame paste base to create an incredibly smooth texture without any heavy cream. Folding in chunks of sweet halva candy gives you little sugary bites throughout the scoop, bringing a popular Middle Eastern summer flavor right to your kitchen.

The bright colors bring back memories of fairs and summer rides. A simple no-churn method keeps this ice cream easy to make. It is hard not to smile when it lands on the table.

I first made this because I couldn't stop thinking about the smell of chai. Cinnamon and cardamom run through the ice cream from the start, and the spices linger long after the bowl is empty. On a freezer shelf crowded with the usual choices, this one always stands out to me.

Every summer, there always seems to be extra corn sitting in the kitchen. This ice cream turns sweet corn into a creamy dessert with a taste that stands out from the usual flavors. It feels like summer in a bowl.

The deep purple color almost looks too pretty to eat. Made with just a few ingredients, this ice cream lets black raspberries do all the work. One scoop is usually not enough.

Three ingredients never sounds like enough when ice cream is involved. Then the strawberries take over, and suddenly there isn't much else to think about. The recipe stays simple, and the freezer gets one more container tucked into the corner.

Matcha and dulce de leche sound like an unusual pair, but they work really well together. The green tea keeps things balanced while caramel runs through every scoop. No ice cream maker needed.
